One of the best resources for information about colleges, careers, scholarships and financial aid is www.GAcollege411.org. This site is a value tool when you want to help students explore career ideas and to research colleges. Students can create their own account and build a portfolio of information that will carry with them throughout high school. HOPE Scholarship information is here, also.
Students will ask about the SAT/ACT but very often are confused about it. Students who are planning to enter a 4-year University directly out of high school are required to take the SAT or ACT. However, neither is required to enter a 2-year University or a Technical College. The tests cost about $45 to take, so please advise students to be sure that it is required by their school before they pay a lot of money. Most schools will administer the Compass Test for free once the student has applied.
